‘A petticoat’ by Archana Rao : Lakme Fashion Week S/R’16

Titled ‘A Petticoat’, the collection was a coming of age story of a popular fictional character called Lolita. Taking petticoat as the protagonist of the collection, Archana brought the inner-wear in the forefront in an innovative manner.

‘Impasse’ by Kallol Datta 1955: Lakme Fashion Week-Winter Festive 2015

Far from all the shimmer and shine, Kallol Datta is one of those rarest of the rare new age thinking designers who truly voices opposition to the established standard of fashion in India. A conversation starter, Kallol’s designs continuously breaks the conservative idea of garment construction – thanks to his exceptional technique. Abstruse and arcane, there is something subtly intriguing about his complex story telling nature.

Named, ‘Jawani Jaaneman’, the collection captured the retro glam vibe of the 70’s and 80’s Bollywood with a certain amount of madness and edgy sensuality. The bling, the disco fever and the spunky attitude of the collection screamed flamboyant romance and nonchalant glamour.

For Huemn, animal instinct takes centre stage this winter.Edgy and rustic, Huemn’s latest collection was filled with quirky animal prints, fur, and leather. Collection Story:Manish Malhotra’s Summer Affair: Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014



Titled ‘A Summer Affair’ the collection is all about celebrating modern day romanticism. With a colour palette of lavender blue, beige and ivory to blush pink, the collection has an underlying surreal feel of a dream world. Painterly prints (Read:Print on Print),sparkle, thread and metal work detailing and floral married the uniqueness of experimental silhouettes and cuts.

LFW Special Feature:Gaurav Gupta & Mawi collaborates for the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014



Gaurav Gupta, the designer honored with the title of ‘Future of Couture’ by Altaroma Altamoda will be for the very first time showcase his collection at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week, in a fitting collaboration with the world renowned Manipur born, UK based jewelry designer Mawi Keivom. This will be Mawi’s first show in India.

Krishna Mehta contemporises Maheshwari weaves: Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014

 


Last year she paid a rich tribute to the craftsmanship of Manipur with her Autumn Winter 2013-14 collection at the Lakme Fashion Week and this season designer Krishna Mehta visits the region of Maheshwar in MP to work with the handloom weavers there to develop her new collection for the forthcoming LFW Summer Resort 2014.

Titled “Lady Sahara”, the Spring Summer 2014 collection by Payal Singhal is inspired by the French Moroccan culture and architecture of the period when the French occupied Morocco. The collection is an ode to the cultural crossroad of Marrakech, the shapes and the grace of Islamic architecture.

Sneak Peek: N&S GAIA by Sidharth Sinha-A tribute to Meghalaya - Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014



Yet another wonderful step to promote the weavers, craftsmanship and textile story of North East India and above all to bridge the gap between the region and the rest of the country. The label N&S GAIA by Sidharth Sinha, with the support of the Govt. of Meghalaya, is in a mission to promote hand-woven textiles of this beautiful state. The Govt. of Meghalaya will be supporting N&S GAIA at the Lakme Fashion Week 2014 to be held in Mumbai from 12th – 16th March as an emerging designer in the Indian Textile category.

‘Shehlaa’ by Shehla Khan,Winter/Festive 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week



Titled, ‘Tale of the Unexpected’, the fairy tale (not one but many) inspired collection by Shehla Khan for her label ‘Shehlaa’ was high on fantasy, feminine grace and contemporary elegance.  Fabrics like tulle, satin, silk, lace, net and brocade added an element of subtle sensuousness and regality to this dreamy collection.

‘Char Bagh’ by Payal Singhal-Autumn/Winter 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week

Titled ‘Char Bagh’, the Indo-western Autumn/Winter 2013 line by Payal Singhal at the Lakme Fashion Week was truly unconventional with its juxtaposition of nature and architecture. ‘Char Bagh’ or four gardens, are Persian style garden layout where the quadrilateral garden is divided by walkways or flowing water into four smaller parts. Taking inspiration from the architecture and nature story of the garden, Payal beautifully captured those elements into her collection with geometric prints and floral embroidery to translate nature on to textile.

‘Aftermath’ by Sidharta Aryan-Autumn/Winter 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week

Titled ‘Aftermath’, Sidharta Aryan presented an androgynously edgy collection inspired from ‘Geode’ inspired geometry. Clean lines merged with geometry of the digital prints to create a structured, sporty, futuristic and wearable line ranging from varsity jackets, asymmetrical skirts to shirts and even sari.

‘HUEMN’ by Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty- Autumn/Winter 2013-14,Lakme Fashion Week



‘HUEMN’ Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection by the talented designer duo Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty was a tribute to today’s sophisticated single woman. It was an interesting take on the very idea of androgynous styling which effortlessly morphed into an ambiguous contrast within texture, craftsmanship and the colour story.

Manipur Handlooms –Krishna Mehta Autumn Winter Festive 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week



Krishna Mehta paid rich tribute to the craftsmanship of an often neglected and isolated region of India, i.e., Manipur with her Autumn Winter 2013-14 collection at the Lakme Fashion Week. Manipur, which has 4.62 lakh handloom workers, second among the top states in the country, has almost 100 percent women weavers.

‘London Eye’ By Troy Costa: Autumn Winter 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week

Titled ‘London Eye’, Troy Costa revived the intriguing charm and style of 1930’s gentleman with a collection that is all about impeccable tailoring, traditional British finesse, contemporary cuts and luxury. Classic yet modern, the first half of the collection was inspired by the work of British artist Mark Gertler’s painting ‘Merry Go Round’, referring to the colour story, while the other end of the collection draws influences from the league of gentlemen of the 30’s & 40’s.

‘From Eden to Paradise’ by Jatin Varma – Autumn/Winter 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week



Titled ‘From Eden to Paradise’, the Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection by Jatin Varma was inspired by Biblical Garden of Eden. The designer took us to a journey of his dreamy paradise with a color story of Red, Purple, Pink and Cobalt Blue.
