With the change in time, the idea of a Sarees too has changed. 2014 was a fabulous year for Saree styles, and some of the looks, because of its modern yet traditional draping style, were definitely ground-breaking in its own way- a year when simplicity married elegance. While traditionalists might not agree with all the looks, however personally i believe fashion is also about breaking the norms, believing in individual style and having fun.

Titled ‘A Summer Affair’ the collection is all about celebrating modern day romanticism. With a colour palette of lavender blue, beige and ivory to blush pink, the collection has an underlying surreal feel of a dream world. Painterly prints (Read:Print on Print),sparkle, thread and metal work detailing and floral married the uniqueness of experimental silhouettes and cuts.

Titled ‘Reflections’ , the folk inspired collection by Manish Malhotra at the opening of Lakme Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter Festive 2013-14 explored the beautiful mirror work of Kutch and Rajasthan, the richness of intricate Kashmiri embroidery  and the playfulness of ethnic colour blocking.

Manish Malhotra’s offering at the PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2013 was inspired by the opulence and affluence of 1930s India, an era celebrating the influence of cross cultural ties in the field of fashion, art and architecture.  The designer artistically fused Indian craftsmanship and embroidery with Victorian cuts and silhouette in a colour palette of midnight blue, red, bright orange, beige, burgundy and mustard.
