Sabyasachi Mukherjee opened the Amazon India Couture Week yesterday with his collection titled ‘Bater’. Amazon India Couture Week 2015 opened with a show by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee in collaboration with Parisian footwear designer Christian Louboutin yesterday in New Delhi. Taking inspiration from hunting birds and preys, the gothic vintage collection was titled ‘Bater’, named after one of India’s most common hunting birds.

Sabyasachi Mukherjeee opened the season with an offsite show at the Richardson & Cruddas Mills in Mumbai. The majestic runway was bombed with glitter and more glitter, reminiscent of the disco era.A heady mix of stripes & vintage floral, pleats and drapes, black and gold, print on print, 70’s retro glam, and patterns and texture ruled the runway. Boho yet relaxed, the collection featured an array of pieces ranging from crop top and jumpsuits to sequined maxis and minis.

Sarees are no more about those heavy zari work, sequins, overdose of bling, never ending drapes and large borders. With the change in time, the idea of a Sarees too has changed. 2014 was a fabulous year for Saree styles, and some of the looks, because of its modern yet traditional draping style, were definitely ground-breaking in its own way- a year when simplicity married elegance. While traditionalists might not agree with all the looks, however personally i believe fashion is also about breaking the norms, believing in individual style and having fun.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee-PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2013 – “Opium”

Titled “Opium”, master of Couture, Sabyasachi Mukherjee presented his exuberant and beautiful collection on Day1 of PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2013. The designer transformed the set into a garden of an old world  mansion  with empty glass bottles, hanging glass lamps and ornate mirror frames, planters and even a antique radio that aesthetically created the essence of vintage elegance.

Vidya Balan attended the closing ceremony of the 66^th Annual Cannes Film Festival in a long flowing Sabyasachi  anarkali teamed with a full sleeve high neck  blouse (somewhat similar to whatAishwarya wore earlier) embellished with gold embroidery and  a gold sequined dupatta. For a change, she did opt for a different hair do.

At an event celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema at Cannes 2013, guest of honor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore a Sabyasachi lace and velvet black saree that had detailed gold embroidery showered on the pallu and upper border.

Vidya wore a beautiful Sabysachi saree at the premiere of ‘Young & Beautiful’ on Day 2 at the 66^thFestival de Cannes. She added a dash of color to the look by wearing a beaded sapphire necklace.

So here we have Vidya Balan making her first saree appearance (this was inevitable) at the 66^th Cannes Film Festival. Vidya looked elegant in a classic Sabyasachi white saree with a broad gold border.
