Zoom – No, not the T.V channel, but the name of the collection. Yes, Diane and her creative director Yvan Mispelaere titled their resort collection Zoom because according to them “ the closer you get, the more you see.”

Fendi Resort 2013

The Resort 2013 collection for Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld was Reminiscent of 70’s fashion. The ultra feminine collection with its pastel shades, colour blocking, graph paper prints and dresses with double thigh slits, pockets and fringes had a classic chic feel to it.

Tory Burch Resort 2013

Tory Burch’s inspiration for her Resort 2013 collection was the picturesque Amalfi Coast in Italy, where she vacationed last year with her three sons."This is the landscape that from the top of the Path of the Gods opens at our glance.it is the scenery of that Amalfi Coast extreme cove, looking west and towards the Isle of Capri that rapid and sultry coast with the crystalline mountains, where are abandoned today's Gods and where to discover a lost, Mediterranean, past, new oneself ..." – Yes these are the words used by writer D.H Lawrence  to describe the beauty of Amalfi. This is the place where Lawrence wrote his most famous and controversial Novel – Lady Chatterly’s Lover.

Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2013

For me the collection was no less than a Bohemian Rhapsody – a celebration of free spirit.Prestigious Parisian museum, the Louvre was the venue for Salvatore Ferragamo’s Resort 2013 collection. Salvatore Ferragamo created a history as this is the first time that the iconic Louvre had hosted a runway show. The bohemian inspired collection was all about today’s free spirited women who accept modernity and culture with ease. 

Prabal Gurung Resort 2013

The Resort 2013 collection by Prabal Gurung was inspired by the work of Aaron Moran, a Canadian artist who is well known for his famous wood sculptures. The line up by the designer had a strong influence of Moran’s geometric sculpture. The asymmetrical collection with a pops of bold colors like neon, aqua & red, injected with a dose of graphic & digital prints combined with peplum definitely made the collection different and unconventional – something that was new. 

Gucci Resort 2013 (Reincarnation of Classic Flora Prints)

For inspiration of the collection, creative director Frida Giannini took inspiration from the 50’s Flora print silk scarf that was made for beautiful Grace Kelly on her personal request. The collection with a nostalgic feel was given a new interpretation by Frida that was a balanced blend of classic and contemporary fashion. 

Marc Jacobs Resort 2013

Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 collection was inspired by well known American photographer and film director Cindy Sherman’s series of clown portrait. With its explosive floral & 70’s prints, bright colors, multi layering, unusual color combination, odd silhouettes & proportions the collection is indeed intense, bold and completely unconventional. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that that collection is a mirror to the eccentric nature of the world that we live in.  

Hervé Léger by Max Azria’s Resort 2013

Keeping the signature bandage dress intact, Hervé Léger by Max Azria’s Resort 2013 collection was an explosion of colour and pattern in body-con silhouettes. The collection with its well placed cut outs took inspiration from pop art and comic book, presenting a vibrant and bold collection. With its graphic prints, colour blocking, monochromatic colour, metallic and leather bandage pieces the collection definitely makes a very strong fashion statement. 

DKNY Resort 2013

The collection in totality was an effortless balance of dark and light.A very wearable, smart & chic collection for today’s ever busy city girl. The key pieces of the collection were a pair of high- waisted tailored pants with wide legs which gave the collection an androgynous feel, sporty black satin bomber, tailored jackets in black and fuchsia, leather motorcycle jacket in pale pink, tapered pants, a shirt dress with classic trompe l’oeil lace prints, shift dresses in satin charmeuse , trench coat with leather sleeves and a color blocked shirt in fuchsia and scarlet worn with a trumpet skirt in zebra prints. One dress in particular, a black  sheer party frock with its playful feathered trimmings  and a bedazzled neckline is indeed a smart choice.

Roberto Cavalli's Just Cavalli Resort 2013 - Indian inspiration

The collection was nothing less than an ode to vibrant India in a very Cavalli style. The bright and color rich collection for Roberto Cavalli’s Just Cavalli Resort 2013 was inspired by his recent visit to India. The designer beautifully infused the religious structures of Hindu temples in pale colours through prints and in psychedelic patterns. Colour blocking was reinterpreted in the form of print blocking in this collection. The tropical exotic floral and animal prints & patterns of the collection were translated into a signature Cavalli style. 

Rachel Roy Resort 2013

Rachel Roy’s bold and colourful Resort 2013 collection was inspired by the vibrant art work of Jewish-French Artist, Sonia Delaunay who was mainly known for her bold colours and geometric shapes. 

Erdem Resort 2013

Go Floral & Blue – Yes that is the first impression that I got after looking at Erdem’s ladylike silhouette for Resort 2013. The collection with its heavy & geometric floral prints, kept the Erdem’s signature style intact. The main color palette of the collection used by Designer Erdem Moralioglu was blue, which was placed in contrast with neon pink, magentas and white.  

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013

The collection with a ladylike flair was a potpourri of colours & had a very relaxed & ultra feminine feel to it, something that  is just perfect for a classic cruise holiday . The structuring and detailing of the collection was completely fashion forward & modern. For instance, Gingham prints, which are considered to be dull compared to other prints, got a complete makeover in this collection. Oversized gingham patterns were embroidered on tulle, silk ,organza and satin  in contrasting colours, which was definitely a refreshing change and also added the element of style and elegance. 

Chanel Resort 2013

Fashion Czar, Karl Lagerfeld recently showcased Chanel’s Resort 2013 collection at the famed gardens of Versailles. The models walked through the gardens with beauty marks shaped like the double C logo of Chanel, affixed to their cheekbones.
