My view on John Galliano’s return: Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2015 Couture collection
Now, this is one home
coming that all of us were waiting for. Ending his almost four year exile, the
disgraced and one of the most admired designers of our time, John Galliano presented his
Artisanal Couture Collection for Maison Martin Margiela in London yesterday.
The anticipation for this show was so high that it also had a hashtag of its
own #MargielaMonday.

‘Surendri’ by Yogesh Chaudhary – ‘The Two Tee Shirts’ - Spring Summer 2014, WIFW
‘The Two Tee Shirts’, yes, that was the title of the Spring Summer 2014
collection offered by Yogesh Chaudhary for his label ‘Surendri’ at the WIFW, New
Delhi. The essence of the collection was inspired from The Tee Shirt, easily
the most popular clothing item in the world of sports and street fashion
consumerism globally. With his finesse in channelling the element of clean ‘Line’,
Yogesh succeeded in sending a message that the Tee shirt has more to it rather
than a medium of under dressing.

Chanel Spring/Summer 2014: Art in Fashion ???
Karl Lagerfeld has done it again, proving that he is
the big daddy of the fashion industry –the ultimate genius and master of
showmanship. For Chanel’s spring 2014 show, the designer transformed the iconic
Grand Palais into a Chanel modern art gallery with 75 installations designed
exclusively for the runway show. The models walked past the backdrop of modern
paintings and installations. There were giant Chanel No.5 bottle golden robot, leather
chain straps of the signature Chanel handbag and nude mannequin to name a few.

Givenchy Spring 2014: Sensuality & Strength
For Givenchy’s Spring
2014, Riccardo Tisci presented a collection that was high on fluid silhouette
and earthy color palette. Choosing to move away from floral and Bambi prints or
his signature street style flavour, the collection was inspired by the
fragility of Japanese kimono, dramatic draping and jewellery of tribal Africa
and even to certain extent elegance of Indian sari.

Lanvin Resort 2014:Opulent yet Minimal
Alber Elbaz presented his glamorous Lanvin
Resort 2014 collection look-book, modelled by Julia Nobis and Juliana Schurig.
The collection is a beautiful blend of architectural structure, clean lines and
opulence that is reminiscent of an Indian Maharaja.
Gold and copper sequined Lamé brocade
pieces, boxy tops, paisley prints, slouchy pants, graphic bonded lace shift
with a pocket, multilayer tulle full-skirted dress in Neoprene and bejewelled
pieces are some of the key pieces and features of this varied offer from Alber.

Bibhu Mohapatra Resort 2014 – (Pondicherry)
Bibhu Mohapatra looked to Pondicherry for his Resort 2014

former French colony in Southern India. The feminine collection was high on exquisite
medallion prints, embroidery, beautiful pleats, lace and silk. Laser cut
leather appliqué, done with utmost precision, perfectly accented this beautiful
collection.

Burberry Prorsum Resort 2014 – Sheer Lust
Ladylike &
elegant, yes these are the two words that came into my mind when I saw Burberry’s
Resort 2014 collection for the first time. Sheer and layering was at its best
in this ladylike collection. In-fact with this collection, Christopher actually
shows how to wear sheer and look classy.
