The theme "Marionette" (French word for Puppet) narrates the journey of a woman who unshackles from a life of obligation and oppression. Hence, she ceases to be a puppet in someone else’s hand and becomes the master of her own free will and destiny.

Sneak Peek : Magma by Amit Aggarwal – Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2016


Designer Amit Aggarwal will unveils his latest collection title 'Magma’ at the Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2016 on Friday, April 1, 2016 7.30 PM at St. Regis, Mumbai. The collection absorbs form, enveloped within the earth’s surface, gathering light within itself. Amit Aggarwal’s interpretation of ‘Magma’ is based on color, surface and form.

The worlds of fashion and art often intersect and intermingle, and designers are continually absorbing and assimilating inspirations from path-breaking new artists.  African artist Eddy Iluanga Kamuanga is one such artist who creates large scale paintings that are bold, political and graphic. One of his striking works on view at the Saatchi Art Gallery stayed with Urvashi who was visiting London at the time. Featuring a woman in a red headscarf with her back turned to the viewer, it was a powerful image representing the upheavals and challenges of our times.

Sneak Peek : ‘MAITAKE’ by P.E.L.L.A - Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2016



After garnering rave reviews last year for her debut Prêt collection at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015, Bangalore based designer Priyanka Ella Lorena Lama is all set to unveil her latest collection for the second time at the upcoming fashion week in Mumbai.  Her label "P.E.L.L.A", which is also an acronym of her name is recognised and appreciated for its Japanese ’wabi-sabi’ philosophy of life, a medium through which she celebrates the beauty of natural objects in its simple and imperfect state.

Sneak Peek: “From Russia, with Love” by Neha Agarwal: To be showcased at Lakme Fashion Week ‘S/R’ 2015

Titled, “From Russia, with Love”, the Spring Resort 2015 collection by Neha Agarwal is inspired by the form-fitting fashion of early 1900s Russia, that tells you a tale of two cultures, where Russian inspired silhouettes and motifs are fused with Indian fabrics and techniques. Usage of intricate hand-embroidered appliqués on georgette, ahimsa, dupion, pure mal, tussar and pattu silk on Russian inspired artwork are some of the key elements of this vibrant collection.

Sneak Peek: “Lady Sahara” by Payal Singhal – Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2013



Titled “Lady Sahara”, the Spring Summer 2014 collection by Payal Singhal is inspired by the French Moroccan culture and architecture of the period when the French occupied Morocco. The collection is an ode to the cultural crossroad of Marrakech, the shapes and the grace of Islamic architecture.

Sneak Peek: N&S GAIA by Sidharth Sinha-A tribute to Meghalaya - Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014



Yet another wonderful step to promote the weavers, craftsmanship and textile story of North East India and above all to bridge the gap between the region and the rest of the country. The label N&S GAIA by Sidharth Sinha, with the support of the Govt. of Meghalaya, is in a mission to promote hand-woven textiles of this beautiful state. The Govt. of Meghalaya will be supporting N&S GAIA at the Lakme Fashion Week 2014 to be held in Mumbai from 12th – 16th March as an emerging designer in the Indian Textile category.

Titled ‘London Eye’, the first half of Troy Costa’s Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection is inspired by the work of British artist Mark Gertler’s painting ‘Merry Go Round’ while the other end of the collection draws influences from the league of gentlemen of the 30’s & 40’s.The collection promises to be luxurious that will elevate the casual with expert tailoring and iconic British influenced fabrics.
