Balmain Fall Winter 2015 : Celebrating Self Expression :Paris Fashion Week

Balmain channelled the high octane glamour of the 70’s, which saw the models donning high-waist palazzos, sharp cut jackets, including ruffled , lace, striped , beaded fringe and satin numbers. With a seductively vibrant colour palette of fuchsia, orange, violet, green, pink, red and blue, almost all the pieces were colour blocked, balanced by the fluid yet structured beauty of the silhouette.

Oscars 2015: The Red Carpet Saga: Of the White, Icy Pastels, Sparkling Pearls & More

From Lady Gaga’s crystal embellished Azzedine Alaïa dress which took 25 seamstresses and 1200 hours to create, and Lupita Nyongo’s 6000 pearl adorned custom gown by  Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, to best actress winner Julianne Moore’s hand-painted resin sequins and flowers Chanel Haute Couture dress which took 987 hours and 27 people to complete, the red carpet affair at the 87th Annual Academy Awards this year was all about embellishment, sparkling pearls, beads and of course going glamorously serene with white. White ruled the red carpet, along with red, icy pastel and black. Here are some of my picks from the red carpet of one of the highly anticipated award nights in the world of cinema.

“TALENTS AWARD 2015” to Nicolas Martin Garcia of Accademia di Costume e di Moda: AltaRoma Haute Couture Fashion Week 2015

Ten final year graduates of Accademia di Costume e di Moda, Rome, presented their collections at the ongoing Alta Roma Haute Couture Fashion Week 2015. The prestigious AltaRoma Fashion Week is an excellent platform for emerging talents to showcase their work alongside the renowned designers. Nicolas Martin Garcia, was adjudged the winner of this year’s Talents Award 2015 for his collection titled “Lolito”. The playful collection is a mix of genres and ages. Androgyny has emerged as a big menswear trend, especially at times when gender gap has considerably narrowed down. Surpassing the concept of androgyny, Nicholas entered a world in which man consciously steals colours and cuts from the female wardrobe. The collection celebrates the essence of a man who is elegant even with garments that seemingly don’t belong to him. Coats with fur collars, vests and V-Necks, high-waist trousers, Baby doll dresses and pleated skirts, elements of typical 50s American childhood, lend their form for this wonderful collection.

London Menswear Collection: Sibling Fall 2015

Pink and Punk, the Sibling Fall 2015 collection was a celebration of joy and rebellious energy of wonderful childhood days. The all pink school -boyish collection offered a variety of knitwear, including sweaters resembling cobwebs, vinyl coats embellished with the dramatic eruption of goat hair, oversized scarves, striped blazers, pink shorts and crumpled paper-bag tailored pieces.

London Menswear Fashion Week: Agi and Sam Fall 2015 collection

At the tender age of 4, Agi drew a range of clothing collection titled “The Coolman Collection”. And he discovered these drawings while visiting his home in Yorkshire, resulting in sparking inspiration for Agi and Sam’s Fall 2015 collection. The collection challenged the inhibitions and the restrictions of an adult life. To rekindle the essence of childhood days, the designer duos got original by involving primary school students to sketch out the pieces for their collection. Their idea was to understand how children see clothes, and how they can change adult’s perceptions which are always blinded by too many complicated thought processes.

The Spring Summer 2015 look book, shot by Peter Lippmann and  titled ‘Water in Love’, suggests that  your Loubs are an extension of who you are and if you truly love your red bottoms then you should never take them off – even in the tub.
