Oscars 2015: The Red Carpet Saga: Of the White, Icy Pastels, Sparkling Pearls & More
From Lady Gaga’s crystal embellished Azzedine Alaïa dress which took 25 seamstresses and 1200 hours to create, and Lupita Nyongo’s 6000 pearl adorned custom gown
by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, to best actress winner Julianne Moore’s hand-painted resin
sequins and flowers Chanel Haute Couture dress which took 987
hours and 27 people to complete, the red carpet affair at the 87th
Annual Academy Awards this year was all about embellishment, sparkling pearls,
beads and of course going glamorously serene with white. White ruled the red
carpet, along with red, icy pastel and black. Here are some of my picks from
the red carpet of one of the highly anticipated award nights in the world of
cinema.

Victoria Beckham Fall Winter 2015 : Unapologetic & Confident:New York Fashion Week
The former spice girl and
designer, Victoria Beckham presented a sleek, ultra modern and stylish
collection for fall winter 2015. Known for her minimalist design aesthetics, the latest collection's sharp
strong cuts and slim lines juxtaposed with oversized and boxy pieces. The
colour palette of grey, orange, midnight blue and of course staple black and
white, complemented the essence of the collection.
Altuzarra FW 2015: "Hard Edged Elegance": But, with a deep sense of Déjà Vu : New York Fashion Week
The Fall Winter
2015 Altuzarra woman is strong yet feminine, contemporary yet old school. Keeping it sexy, the
designer presented an array of pieces ranging from thigh high slits worn with
knee high boots and high-neck Edwardian lace dresses to tailored coats with
Prince of Wales checks. The interplay of textures in the form of leather
skirts, Fox fur collars, and shearlings had an element of hard-edged elegance
to it. With ruffled trim on the pockets and lightweight shimmery beaded evening

“TALENTS AWARD 2015” to Nicolas Martin Garcia of Accademia di Costume e di Moda: AltaRoma Haute Couture Fashion Week 2015
Ten final year graduates of Accademia di Costume e di Moda, Rome, presented their
collections at the ongoing Alta Roma Haute Couture Fashion Week 2015. The
prestigious AltaRoma Fashion Week is an excellent platform for emerging talents
to showcase their work alongside the renowned designers. Nicolas Martin Garcia, was adjudged the winner
of this year’s Talents Award 2015 for his collection titled “Lolito”. The playful
collection is a mix of genres and ages. Androgyny has emerged as a big menswear
trend, especially at times when gender gap has considerably narrowed down. Surpassing
the concept of androgyny, Nicholas entered a world in which man consciously
steals colours and cuts from the female wardrobe. The collection celebrates the
essence of a man who is elegant even with garments that seemingly don’t belong
to him. Coats with fur collars, vests and V-Necks, high-waist trousers, Baby doll
dresses and pleated skirts, elements of typical 50s American childhood, lend
their form for this wonderful collection.

London Menswear Collection: Sibling Fall 2015
Pink and Punk, the Sibling Fall 2015
collection was a celebration of joy and rebellious energy of wonderful
childhood days. The all pink school -boyish collection offered a variety of knitwear,
including sweaters resembling cobwebs, vinyl coats embellished with the dramatic
eruption of goat hair, oversized scarves, striped blazers, pink shorts and
crumpled paper-bag tailored pieces.
London Menswear Fashion Week: Agi and Sam Fall 2015 collection
At the tender age of 4,
Agi drew a range of clothing collection titled “The Coolman Collection”. And he
discovered these drawings while visiting his home in Yorkshire, resulting in sparking
inspiration for Agi and Sam’s Fall 2015 collection. The collection challenged the
inhibitions and the restrictions of an adult life. To rekindle the essence of childhood
days, the designer duos got original by involving primary school students to sketch
out the pieces for their collection. Their idea was to understand how children
see clothes, and how they can change adult’s perceptions which are always blinded
by too many complicated thought processes.

green and grey, the fitted and fine tailored graphic collection offers knitwear,
button-ups, topcoats, crewnecks, and trousers with playful cubic prints.
Interesting geometric prints and patchwork embellishments is the core of this
collection and offers an ideal story to the very idea of a contemporary menswear.

The Girl who dared the 2014 Red Carpet: Rihanna
Love her or hate her, or we might
even call her a clinical attention seeker, but there is no denying that Riri made
the 2014 red carpet look lot more spicy and interesting. Her fashion choices,
armed with naked confidence and poise, were truly daring yet chic and turned heads
this year. The CFDA Fashion icon award winner of the year 2014 effortlessly
dons both high fashion creations as well as absolutely daring outfits that do
not leave much to the imagination. Her daring Adam Selman fishnet gown (or no
gown) at the CFDA Award Ceremony was one of the most talked about news in
fashion and has become an iconic moment.
And, the Style Icon of the Year 2014 is Lupita Nyong’o (Not a surprise)
Apart from winning an Oscar for
her role in 12 Years a Slave, Lupita Nyong’o also seduced us with her
impeccable red carpet style and
instantly became fashion’s ‘it’ girl of
the year 2014. The year truly belonged to this newcomer and without any
questions, she is the Queen of 2014 Red Carpet style. A complete stunner, i
love the way she played with colours on the red carpet.
Here are few dresses that made
Ms. Nyong’o the Style Icon of the Year 2014.

Christian Louboutin goes bubble bathing in Spring/Summer 2015 Look Book
Girls,
would you like to take your Louboutins to the bathtub? I know you love your
Loubs, but bubble bathing in them - is that a good idea? However, Christian Louboutin
thinks otherwise. The Spring Summer 2015 look book, shot by Peter Lippmann and titled ‘Water in Love’, suggests that your Loubs are an extension of who you are and
if you truly love your red bottoms then you should never take them off – even in
the tub. Hmmm, it still does not sound that exciting to me – bath tub???
