From Lady Gaga’s crystal embellished Azzedine Alaïa dress which took 25 seamstresses and 1200 hours to create, and Lupita Nyongo’s 6000 pearl adorned custom gown
by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, to best actress winner Julianne Moore’s hand-painted resin
sequins and flowers Chanel Haute Couture dress which took 987
hours and 27 people to complete, the red carpet affair at the 87th
Annual Academy Awards this year was all about embellishment, sparkling pearls,
beads and of course going glamorously serene with white. White ruled the red
carpet, along with red, icy pastel and black. Here are some of my picks from
the red carpet of one of the highly anticipated award nights in the world of
cinema.

Queen of Red Carpet, Lupta Nyong’o was a
vision in this striking 6000 pearl adorned gown from the Calvin Klein
collection

|
Stunning! The best actress award winner was
also one of the best dressed on the red carpet. Julianne Moore was spectacular
in this Chanel off shoulder Haute Couture gown, which took 987 hours and 27
people to complete

Jenna Dewan-Tatum wore a plunging neckline, white
Zuhair Murad Couture gown. The gown was cinched at the waist with beautiful
silver belt .Refined elegance!
|
|
Lady Gaga wore a custom made crystal embellished Azzedine Alaïa dress that
took 25 seamstresses and 1200 hours to create. The boxy shoulders of the gown were dramatic but subtle
compared to Gaga’s past red carpet moments. She broke the monotony of the all
white look with a pair of red gloves and red hair accessories. I wish she could
have dumped those kitchen gloves. They just spoilt the entire look.

|
Reese Witherspoon was simple yet elegant in
this off-shoulder Tom Ford gown. The black detailing on the white created the
classic Hollywood red carpet drama. Smart and Chic!
|
|
Marion Cotillard wore a white Christian Dior
Haute Couture jacquard number that featured hand-chopped, cut-work and sequined
embroidery. The dress took 400 hours to make and was inspired from Dior’s
scaled dress from 1950.
|
|
Gwyneth Paltrow wore a blush pink Ralph &
Russo Spring 2015 couture gown, that featured a one shoulder rose detail. On
somebody else, the gown could have been a little underwhelming on the red
carpet, however Gwyneth made it work.
|
|
Zoe Saldana flaunted her post baby figure in
a form fitting custom Atelier Versace gown. She looked amazing and glowed in
this gorgeous blush gown that featured interesting graphic lines.
|
|
Keeping her signature cleavage show intact,
Jennifer Lopez wore a dreamy Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture Gown. The nude gown
featured a deep neck and intricate beading. The full skirt of the gown created
a bit of princess drama on the red carpet.
|
|
Emma Stone added some colour on the red
carpet in an embellished light green Elie Saab Couture gown which featured a
thigh high slit. The unconventional colour could have been a downer for somebody
else, but Emma pulls it off quite well. Refreshing!
|
|
Rosamund Pike was easily one of the best
dressed of the night as she radiated in a crimson red Givenchy Haute Couture dress.
She looked exquisite and supremely elegant in this intricately embroidered gown.
|
|
The star of “50 Shades of Grey”, Dakota
Johnson looked beautiful in a red Saint Laurent one shoulder gown. Simple yet
chic!
|
|
Jennifer Hudson also kept it simple in an
elegant Romona Keveza off shoulder gown. The colour and the peplum of this
smart gown added an element of playfulness to the red carpet. Perfect!
|
|
Drama, Drama, and Drama! Scarlett Johansson wore
an Atelier Versace gown, and you know what; somehow I love this red carpet
drama. I love the confidence of this look. What I don’t like about this look is
the tacky neck piece and the puckered seams. But, I am ready to ignore that
offence because of the refreshing colour and oh boy, it fits like a dream. The
styling might be a downer, but who does not love a little bit of excitement on
the red carpet.
|
|
Simple yet elegant, Cate Blanchett wore a Maison Margiela Couture gown
by John Galliano that featured unfinished edges. The bold turquoise statement
neck-piece did the entire trick here. She looked fabulous.
|
|
I love the intricate drama of the gown.
Sienna Miller looked gorgeous in a sequined embroidered Oscar de la Renta Fall 2015 collection. The navy
blue gown has a hint of careless cuteness to it.
