Sabyasachi keeps it Dark & Sexual in 'Bater' : India Couture Week 2015

Amazon India Couture Week 2015 opened with a show by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee in collaboration with Parisian footwear designer Christian Louboutin yesterday in New Delhi. Taking inspiration from hunting birds and preys, the gothic vintage collection was titled ‘Bater’, named after one of India’s most common hunting birds.

Dark and sexual, old school yet contemporary, and of course very Sabyasachi, the collection showcased exquisite hand embroidery from different parts of India, such as Parsi, Badla, Zardosi and Resham but with a strong contemporary essence interpreted through geometry and lines.

The intimidating elegance and eccentricity of the collection was captured in pieces ranging from short dresses and maxi dresses to capes and jackets. For men, bandhgalas with shawls, classic Nehru jackets and embroidered sherwanis completed the offering.

The designer collaborated with iconic Louboutin to create the signature red sole shoes for the runway show.
