Rahul Mishra celebrates the duality of a modern woman in his couture collection: India Couture Week ‘15

The talented Mr. Rahul Mishra presented his couture collection yesterday at the ongoing Amazon India Couture Week 2015 in New Delhi. Titled “Tree of Life”, Mishra’s latest offering was inspired by his wife. It is the multitasking nature of his better half, the way she manages her work and family life, inspired  the designer to conceive his first ever couture collection. The duality of a today’s modern woman, the fine balance of strong yet feminine nature of her personality intrigued the designer to create this sharp collection.

International in feel, but traditional in essence, the designer showcased a variety of intelligent pieces – such as the sporty combination of bomber with hand embroidered lehenga,  traditional Chintz saree with a sheer cape, and a long skirt  with thigh high slits. Other pieces included jumpers, capes and sheer overcoats, all in a colour story of whites, ivory, purples and blacks, including shades of celebratory gold. The amalgamation of sharp lines, mysterious sheer panels, zipper details, and plays of floral and bird motifs were some of the key highlights of this collection. An eclectic mix of traditional textiles such as Benarasi silk, Maheshwari fabric, silk organza, along with new age knit textiles  and Chanderi weaves effortlessly captured the spirit of a contemporary couture collection – apt for a modern bride who has a mind and a style of her own .
