Alexander Wang to leave Balenciaga: Kering looking for a lesser known talent

According to a WWD report, Alexander Wang will be departing from Balenciaga soon. He will be showcasing his final collection for Balanciaga during Paris Fashion Week this September. The designer’s departure from the house has been rumoured for quite some time now. It is believed that Kering, the parent company of Balenciaga have taken a decision not to renew Wang’s contract. Earlier this month, Kering had released a statement saying, "There are discussions between the designer and Balenciaga regarding the renewal of the contract."

Wang’s tenure with the brand is less than three years; he joined the brand in December 2012.  Before him, Nicholas Ghesquire was working as the creative director for 15 years, who moved out in the year 2012 to join Louis Vuitton.

If rumours are to e believed, Kering has already started its search for a lesser known talent, due to positive market response to Alessandro Michele’s placement at Gucci.
