‘London Eye’ By Troy Costa: Autumn Winter 2013-14, Lakme Fashion Week

Titled ‘London Eye’, Troy Costa revived the intriguing charm and style of 1930’s gentleman with a collection that is all about impeccable tailoring, traditional British finesse, contemporary cuts and luxury. Classic yet modern, the first half of the collection was inspired by the work of British artist Mark Gertler’s painting ‘Merry Go Round’, referring to the colour story, while the other end of the collection draws influences from the league of gentlemen of the 30’s & 40’s.

With paisley jacket, window panes, houndstooth and classic checks, the capsule of pieces ranged from single and double breasted slim fit jackets, retro suits, and waist-coats to slim fit trousers and embroidered/busy print shirts that expertly modernised the sartorial classics. GATSBY- ESQUE tailoring combined with peeping colourful pocket squares, oh-so-English bowler hats, bows, ties, scarves, collar bars and classic umbrella cane added an element of Retro yet contemporary styling.

Utility bags, folders, ultra light clutches, document holders in glossy hues, Brogues, Tuxedo Slippers, Tassel Loafers and Toggled Moccasins complemented the collection that perfectly celebrates the dandy flamboyancy of the 30’s without abandoning the urban functionality of contemporary men’s wardrobe.

“The TROY COSTA man is one who likes to behave with good manners & dress well , strong yet sensitive , classic but not too formal , he’s a man who wishes to be classless & stylish but with substance .” the designer explains. “After all, "WHY DRESS DOWN, WHEN YOU CAN DRESS UP!”
