Rajesh Pratap
Singh is truly the man of the moment. First of all he is the first ever Indian
designer to be roped in by Woolmark, world’s leading wool textile organization
to promote the merino wool in India (READ: the stakes were really high) and
next his Autumn Winter’13 collection at the WIFW lived up to all expectations and beyond. The offering without any unwanted extras clearly
focussed on creating pieces that perfectly fits into the concept of an ideal
and pleasantly chilling Autumn Winter collection.
Merino wool
was at its stylish and versatile best in the form of tweeds, knits, plaids and herring-bones. Structured jackets,
waistcoats, coat dresses with asymmetrical hem, woolen skirts biker jackets and
draped pants in a warm and solid colour palette of black, blue, burgundy, grey
and brown flawlessly created the canvas of a nostalgic winter mood.
Clean cuts
and sleek lines, patchwork, signature Ikat prints, geometric patterns, circular
pockets and unconventional zip detailing were in harmony with the overall theme
of the collection - and of course red piping added the required amount of
pizzazz to the collection.
With this
collection, the ace designer has established that the Autumn Winter’13 definitely
belongs to him. I am already looking forward to beat the winter
chill with Rajesh Pratap Singh and Woolmark. Are you?
