'My Village' by Rimzim Dadu A/W'13 at WIFW

Bored of same old world map? Well, you don’t have to be any more. Rimzim Dadu embarked on a mesmerising (READ: sartorial) world tour for her ‘My Village’ A/W ’13 collection, thus narrating a wanderers story. During the course of the journey, Rimzim magically guided us by infusing world map motifs, wind vane and compass prints.

The wanderer in her with an experimental streak and unconventional quest explored the possibilities of an unknown sartorial land by melting and splattering metals on fabrics and knotting and looping leather and silicon twines to create a story of an unexplored complicated world (READ: world within), the stars and the enchanting moments.

In a colour palette of black, white and signature metallic, the story offered star spangled dresses, shirt dresses, leather and silicone knitted dresses, leather pants, sparkling jackets and cape. Rimzim didn’t stop there. Using miniature golden ships as epaulettes on a black cape, she took us to this curious journey on her golden ships. Brogues allowed “The Village” girl to explore and reveal the androgynous side of her.

This is one collection that definitely compels you to think and go beyond the ordinary – to explore, to reinvent and of course to plunge into the world of mystical starry nights and more.
