Majority of the
male species think that polka dots are only for the women. Well, this is a
complete fashion myth. Polka dots are a fun and refreshing way to take a plunge
into your summer holiday mood. All that matters is the size of the dots (Read:
Polka) and how you wear it. I am not saying that you have to cover yourself in
dots from head to toe. That looks good only on runways. Even a subtle hint of
polka dots (Read: in the form of accessories) can enhance your style quotient
and break the monotony of a basic look.
I guess, I
have had enough of prints (Aztec, Tribal, Camouflage,Geometric and others) hence
given a choice, my first preference would be always a subtle classic (Read:
size matters) small print polka dot
shirt, necktie, bow, pocket square, scarf, suspender, cufflink or even a pair
of socks. That does not mean that I am going to wear all of it in one go,
unless I have serious thoughts of becoming a clown.
How to
incorporate the look? You can keep the rest of your outfit simple when wearing a
polka dot shirt or you may opt for a
polka dot pocket square or a skinny tie to bring in an element of
classic style to your over all look. You can also rock the look by pairing your
polka dot shirt with a pair of jeans. Options are many.
Style Mantra:
Stick to one piece at a time and let it make a statement.
Polka dots
are definitely high on my list for Summer 2013. How about yours?
