Taking
inspiration from the Naïve art form
of French Post-Impressionist artist, Henri Julien Félix Rousseau’s “Boy on the Rocks”, the designer duo, Shivan
& Narresh presented a collection that beautifully echoed Nicholas Pioch’s
comments on the painting, “Only
a child can so bestride the world with such ease, and only a childlike artist
with a simple, naïve vision can understand this elevation and make us see it as
dauntingly true."
Keeping the non
pretentious (READ: Naïve) essence of the inspiration alive, Shivan and
Narresh’s offering had the simplicity of a child that was artfully presented by
merging distorted expressions on clothes,
by experimenting with multi layer of undefined vibrant colours with fluorescent and the neon and unconventional
cuts , the lines and the quirky prints.
Shift with
unconventional ringed sleeves, sketch pen printed bandeau, maillot with quirky
prints, pencil skirts, jacket and the signature bikini sari were some of the
key pieces of this statement collection.
The
collection was indeed a perspective – that explored the territory of a childlike
innocence and naïve vision, shrouded
by a bit of mystery.
