Tarun Tahiliani’s offering for Autumn/Winter’13 was inspired
from Mahakumbh and was truly a celebration of a country called India and its mystical
layers. For his inspiration, Tahiliani, the genius traveled to Kumbh in Allahabad to
document the drapes of the sadhus and his journey combined with expertise and vision
resulted in creation of a collection that boasted of fabulously structured contemporary drapes. The collection was
indeed a story of the drapes.
Black, orange, tangerine, pink, midnight blue, red and sadhu saffron echoed
the essence of this collection – a perfect reference of how colours can be bold
yet calm and simple. The raw beauty of fabrics like cashmere, silk, velvet and cotton
were enhanced by fine cuts, patterns, modern construction and rich
craftsmanship of Indian artisans – a collection that is truly global in its
appeal.
