"Enchanting, encyclopaedic
couture," the show note read. With all the beetles, dragonflies, anthropods
and even lion head embroidery, the collection instantly reminds you of the encyclopaedia.
Maria Grazia Chiuri and
Pierpaolo Piccioli presented a luxurious heritage Fall 2013 Haute Couture collection
with an earthy essence.
Intricate ornate embroidery, rhinoceros and lion print
merged with luxurious lace surface, capes, herringbone tweeds, velvet, laser
cut dresses, oriental motifs, crystal, satin, embellishment, A-line silhouette,
raffia, capes, menswear-inspired fabric and hues were some of the key elements
and feature of this curiosity cabinet-inspired collection.
It was interesting to see the way gold surface lace and
crystal played with the simplicity of camel pieces- luxuriously vintage yet
minimal and modern.
