It’s Official - “Athleisure” is included in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

It’s Official!  Come early 2016, the street –active wear trend, named, “Athleisure” is all set to make its entry in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The dictionary definition will be, "casual clothing designed to be worn both for exercising and for general use."

With this entry, it will be officially OK to wear your leggings, meggings, sweatshirts/pants and neoprene hoodies out in public – provided you learn the trick of styling it. And, yes – please do take care of your overactive sweat glands.  

As more people have embraced active lifestyles’ the demand for sports and fitness apparel is at its peak. The idea of sporting an active wear has become so sought after in recent times that it can be seen everywhere, including workplaces. Many design houses, including fashion giants such as Chanel, StellaSports by Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Cynthia Rowley, Rebecca Minkoff, and Derek Lam, just to name a few,  have understood the current pulse of the market - the culture of dressing down in today’s time crunched world. In India, design houses such as HUEMN by Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty, designer duo Hemant and Nandita have created collections exclusively inspired by the popularity of this performance wear trend.
