One of the India’s finest fashion
exports and a genius, Rahul Mishra showcased his Fall Winter 2015/16 collection
on the last day of Paris Fashion Week. True to his philosophy based on sustainability,
the latest offering, titled “The Village” was an alluring poetry-
of the past, where humans and nature coexisted in a harmonious and peaceful environment.
The collection was a narrative of the people, the process and the craft.
The incredible balance
between the nature and human, the traditional and contemporary was a subtle poetry,
where intricate embroidery and weaves married the warmth of wool, revelation of
sheer, mystery of chiffon and the elegance of silk. With a colour palette of nude,
black, white, and midnight blue, the artisanal embroidery of birds, flowers,
and above all the village, on the sheer panels of the dresses, double breasted jackets,
tops and skirts was an emotional poetry, which brought back memories of bygone
days.
Rahul shot to international
fame after winning the prestigious International Woolmark Prize 2014 and since
then there has been a no looking back for this genius. He is widely known for
his progressive approach towards sustainable design philosophy, where he
incorporates the rich heritage of Indian textiles, and craftsmanship to his
work. Rahul is also one of those very few designers, who have spared no effort to
uplift, empower and employ the talented Indian crafts community.
