Alta Roma Alta Moda, the yearly couture week started today (Jan, 30th,
2015) in Rome, and will continue till Feb, 2nd, 2015. The prestigious fashion
week was conceptualised by the Rome based Haute Couture fashion agency and
revolves around the mission statement: “research and promotion of emerging
couture designers.” Hence, it is no surprise that the main focus of this fashion
week is to create a platform to launch young and emerging talents. Emerging couture
designers get a wonderful opportunity to showcase their work alongside the
veteran designers. It is like a dream come true for any emerging designer!
Accademia Costume & Moda, Rome is one of
the topmost fashion & costume schools in the world. In its 50 years,
Accademia has developed many talents in all its fields of reference. An
impressive alumni list such as Frida Giannini, Alessandro
Michele for Gucci, Aldo Maria
Camillo for Cerruti, Sergio
Ciucci for Didier Parakian , just to name
a few, conveys a lot about the heritage and creative strength of the school.
The school will present 10 collections at the
prestigious Altaroma catwalk of SPAZIO ALTAROMA, on January 31st, 2015 at 1.00
p.m. which is a result of a real team effort. Emerging designers and graduating
students, Lucrezia Abatzoglu, Andrea Alfidi, Federico Bucari, Domizia Deiana,
Margherita Feliciangeli, Federica Foglia, Debora Fossaceca, Tommaso Fux,
Nicolas Martin Garcia and Silvia Stefanucci, received the precious support of Massimiliano
Pannitteri, Roberta Roberti and Chiara Valentini under the attentive
supervision of Academic Director Adrien Yakimov Roberts and Accessory Coordinator
Luigi Mulas Debois. A creative team worth envying!
The influential jury, selected to meticulously
evaluate creations by the new designers, is composed by: Silvia Venturini Fendi
(President, Altaroma), and in alphabetic order, Giampiero Arcese (Design
Coordinator Armani Collezioni Donna) Livia Carimini (Assistante Haute Couture,
Maison Valentino), Davide Dallomo (Fouder and President, Lagente Milano), Marco
Falcioni (Head of Designer Diesel Male), Deanna Ferretti (Modateca Deanna), Maurizio
Galante (Designer Couturier), Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo (Vice President,
Salvatore Ferragamo), Simonetta Gianfelici (Fashion consultant and Talent scout),
Stella Jean (Fashion Designer), Laura Lusuardi (Fashion Coordinator, Max Mara),
Raffaello Napoleone (CEO, Pitti Immagine). This is an experience and a privilege
in itself for the young designers to get an opportunity to interact with such
an esteemed list of jury members.
“Our graduating students that have the
opportunity to show the final work collections do so with pride and acknowledge
the team work of all teachers, lecturers and support staff of the academy that
have worked alongside them for more than three years”. said Adrien Yakimov Roberts, Director of
Education. “Their uniqueness of being culturally curious and well rounded has
been apparent to me during their tempestuous journey of creating their final
work and sets them apart from other fashion students reflecting the distinctiveness
of our course “Costume & Fashion”. A student capsule collection, very
different from a “professional collection”, has no essential economic outcome,
it is a free expression, a rare opportunity to show their ability to design, create trends, resolve
design issues, communicate their identity and ideas and as such is a once in a
life time experience and I hope they will be appreciated as such.”
Each of the 10 fashion students conducted an
individual research, yet, at the same time, a contamination of genres emerges from
this year’s collections in line with the mood of the current generation. Defined
by cultural and creative curiosity, it constantly tries to legitimize
restrictions of segments and regulations to propose innovation within the
fashion and social systems.
Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo will present Accedemia’s
Alumni Marco Mastroianni with the Irene Brin Award, which has now reached its
46th edition. After completing his studies at the Accademia, Marco began his
professional career first at the Product Department of Dolce & Gabbana in Itierre
SPA, then with Romeo Gigli and 11 years in Prada and finally, in 2001, he
entered Louis Vuitton where he is in charge of materials creation (Responsable
CrĆ©ation MatiĆØres).
