“LightFall” by Gaurav Gupta at India Bridal Fashion Week 2013

Best known for his cutting edge design, signature drapes and unique approach to cut, silhouette and fabric, the talented designer, Gaurav Gupta presented his bridal collection titled “LightFall” at the India Bridal Week in Mumbai. Aptly named “LightFall”, it is the luminescence of every garment - the light behind, over and within every process of creation that inspires the designer for this collection. As expected from Gaurav, the collection does not fall into the conventions of bridal wear but encourages today’s brides to push the boundaries and celebrate her uniqueness, thus creating a strong style statement.

Lace, jersey, georgette, organza and soft mesh complements the intricate beauty of ancient Indian embroidery and techniques like saadi, pitta, zari, nakshee and multidimensional surface ornamentation.

In a colour palette of dust gold, moon grey, ecru, Egyptian teal and interesting pop of neon, Gaurav’s collection plays with existing silhouettes to give a new form. Saree and lehenga evolves in order to derive newer silhouette, so thus the gown. This truly symbolizes the evolving facet of today’s new age progressive bride.

"Once upon a checkered dream
Of songs in lace and rivulets of gold
Silence became the song the theme
By light the tale of its falling was told
Somewhere she said an eye would blink
And somewhere a cave will stall
Night would be the torch to everything
On the day light falls"
