Titled
‘The Golden bracelet’, Suneet Varma’s bridal collection at the Aamby Valley
India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 was inspired by the ancient Roman town-city of Pompeii.
The contemporary Indo-ancient Roman inspired bridal collection was categorised
under three themes - Romance, Longing and Wedding.
The
collection featured toga style drapes, lace, embroideries, sheer, block prints,
intricate gold work, floral appliqué, printed velvets, churidars/leggings
teamed with sarees, razor cut blouses, corsets, silk knit, anarkalis, gowns, tiered
georgette skirts, gold bustier, crystal adorned lehengas with cutwork and more
in a colour palette of ivory, red, powder blue, soft pinks, black and gold –
apt for adventurous modern bride.
Handmade
accessories were definitely one of the high point of this show. Models were
styled in gold headgear resembling Roman wreath crowns, dangling earrings, neck
pieces and spiral armlets. Gorgeous Chitrangda Singh added the required glamour
of an Indian wedding as a show stopper in a crystal studded red lehenga.
