Rohit Bal –Aamby Valley IBFW 2013 -‘The Mulmul Masquerade’

Titled ‘The Mulmul Masquerade’, Rohit Bal’s first ever bridal collection at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 was high on extravagance with its intricate embroidery, beautiful Kashmiri craftsmanship, embellishment, fine layering and Baroque with a royal dose of Elizabethan era.

Voluminous anarkalis with exquisite gold embroidery, sarees, high collared blouses with frilled collar, lehengas, floor length anarkalis, corset for brides and sherwanis, shibori jackets, dhoti pants for grooms in chanderi, rich velvet and subtle mulmul were some of the key pieces and features of Rohit’s opulent bridal story. The beautiful lotus themed set was an experience in itself. Sonam Kapoor as a show stopper in a muslin lehenga choli with gold embroidery and paisley pattern shook a leg on the ramp which added the required celebration of an exotic grand Indian wedding.

The collection in totality was a fantastical fusion of Elizabethan era with the grandeur of Indian craftsmanship. As for his first ever Bridal collection on the ramp, the designer did leave a grand mark.
