Known for her androgynous style and avant-garde
fashion sensibilities, Tilda Swinton, the 52-year old Academy Award winning
actress has been chosen by Karl Lagerfeld as the face of Chanel's pre-fall
Paris-Edimbourg collection, which was showcased at Linlithgow Palace last
December. The collection was inspired by Mary Queen of Scots and featured
knits, plaids, tartans, kilts, argyle and above all rich Scottish heritage.
"Tilda perfectly embodies the Paris-Edimbourg
collection," Lagerfeld said in a statement. "She is of course
Scottish, but more than that she is a modern woman, a timeless icon of
elegance." The ad-campaign which will debut this June was even
photographed by Mr Lagerfeld, at the Château d'Ecouen, a Renaissance-period
castle located near Chantilly, France.
