“Epic masculinity” – Yes that is what Jil Sander’s press
note for the collection said. The collection was a celebration of masculinity
with strong references to military styling shapes and details.
Drain pipe pants, shorts, sleeveless knits, sweaters with crisscross motifs, pin-striped suits, blouson, stand out collars, oversized patched pockets, coats and jackets of different style – double breasted coat, coats with raised waist, collarless coats, pea coat, boxy sports jackets and overcoats were some of the key pieces and features of this collection that was a fine balance of patterns, fabric and colour. Colours like Russian red, navy blue and army green with a hint of colour blocking accented the pieces. The collection was clean, modern and polished with the right amount of focus on simple line, impeccable tailoring, practicality and minimalism –apt for today’s man.
