Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 was all about connecting to
the Sicilian roots and celebrating religion and faith. Once more for this
season, the designer duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana chose ordinary
Sicilians as their models. The designers said that the collection was dedicated
to devotion. The collection with images of repeated haloed Madonnas, crucifixion
of Jesus and scarves edged in gold fringe had a strong religious tone to it and
was indeed a sartorial devotion to faith, belief and roots.
The collection with its over sized pieces, velvet trimming, classic
black suits, dark suit jacket overlayed with white lace, motifs of winter
roses, baroque, white lace detailing on blousons paired with black pants,
cinched high waist pleated pants, straight or cuffed trousers in varying
lengths, velvet jackets, short waist jackets and cashmere over coats is indeed a perfect blend of simplicity and flamboyance,
classic and contemporary fashion – an offering that resonates with celebration
of fine and immaculate Italian tailoring and craftsmanship.
