Who impressed, who failed? Filmfare Awards 2016 Red Carpet

The 61st Filmfare Award was held on 15st January, 2016 at the Yash Raj Studio in Mumbai. As usual this was quite a starry affair. Putting their fashion foot forward, the Bollywood beauties graced the red carpet making impressive and at times not so impressive style statements.

Here are some of the looks from the Red Carpet. Who do you think nailed it completely?

Deepika kept it red on the red carpet in a Ralph and Russo Couture number. I like the way the gown fits her. There is something very sensually matured about this look.

Parineeti Chopra kept it smoking hot in a black Shivan and Naresh thigh-high slit gown. She completed her look with a sleek ponytail, black gladiator and smoky eyes. The cut out gown perfectly complements her new avatar. And, that clutch = LOVE.

Taapsee Pannu looked great in a Harshita Deshpande gown. The plunging neckline adds the required red carpet drama. She looked classy.

Sonam Kapoor chose her go to designer Anamika Khanna for the Award ceremony. The emerald neckpiece added a regal drama to the look. But, Ms. Kapoor does not impress me much. I strongly feel there is nothing new about this look. We have seen her in similar looks earlier too. Or is it intentional? Is she trying to create a signature look of hers?

Huma Qureshi looked gorgeous in a Mayyur Girotra gown. Ms. Qureshi gets extra points for her styling. Her cuff and the ring beautifully complement the floral embroidery of the gown. She further took the look to another level with her hairstyle.

Alia Bhatt looked great in this pretty   Sachin & Babi dress. The dress perfectly complements Ms. Bhatt’s personality. And, yes she makes it all the more interesting with her shoes. Did you notice? Alia wore two different colour shoes. She is definitely keeping the fun alive in fashion.

New kid on the block, Athiya Shetty wore a dramatic Monisha Jaising gown. She kept it minimal in a ring-palm cuff.

Kajal Aggarwal kept it pink and daring in a Swapnil Shinde gown. The gown fits her like a dream. Simple yet HOT!

Aditi Rao Hydari wore a mint Gauri and Nainika gown. There was something quite dull about the entire look. The strapless gown and the styling didn’t create the required red carpet magic.

Kriti Sanon painted the red carpet blue in a Nikhil Thampi gown. There is something refreshing about this look.

Ileana D’Cruz also kept it red on the red carpet in a Nachiket Barve gown. Waist up, she looked stunning. But it’s the waist down train that is a complete mess. Was it really required?

Jacqueline Fernandez wore a Hussein Bazaza black lace gown. In midst of all the lace and the dramatic peplum, this was quite a messy affair. No?

The other wise experimental and stylish Neha Dhupia kept it simple in a Gauri and Nainika gown. Neha can do much better than this. Pretty yet BORING!

Radhika Apte tired it up in a pink Vizyon gown. The strapless gown looked pretty yet dull.
