“The way men are seen in photography, in fashion, and the way men look at pictures of themselves has changed in recent years,” say Mario Testino. “It is a subject that has come into focus: The masculine image, a man’s personal style, changing attitudes to the male face and body.”
Iconic photographer, Mario Testino’s new coffee table book ‘SIR’, explores the changing idea of male masculinity in the last three decades, and how tradition, costume, photojournalism, gender play and fashion impacts the male image. The must have limited edition 456-page book features 300 images, including unpublished work, images published in well known fashion magazines, and studio and candid shots of celebrities like David Bowie, David Beckham, Mick Jagger, Josh Hartnett, and Keith Richards – all men who have redefined masculinity by being more comfortable with their feminine side, and Brad Pitt, Jude Law, Colin Firth, George Clooney – men who are considered to be the ultimate symbol of masculinity.
Published by Taschen, the book is bound in Japanese cloth, and delivered in a metal slipcase, each signed by Mario Testino.
