London milliner, Philip Treacy’s Spring Summer 2013 show was
an extraordinary and one of the most glamorous moments at the recently
concluded London fashion week. The legendry Irish milliner returned to the
runway after 13 years & dedicated the show to king of pop, Michael Jackson.
The show was a cast of all black models which in Treacy’s words, was a homage to the African woman and their
sensibility to dress up .A total of 25 black women sashayed up and down the
runway wearing Treacy’s creation and
outfits from MJ’s archive and oh so iconic ‘Thriller Jacket’.
To open the show, Lady Gaga took to the stage donning a
hot-pink, floor length shroud, neon veil and a sky high McQueen heel and
declared “Welcome to the show of the greatest milliner in the world, Philip
Treacy. In the clothes of the late Michael Jackson”. The hats were truly a work
of art and a fine example of Treacy’s
unique craftsmanship. The diversity of
the creation included - Punk –style feathers, a huge smiley face saucer,
ship with waiving sails, LED display, straw creations, crystals, swooping
golden bowls & jewel colored
helmets.
