It was just as recent at the Geneva Auto Fair in March’12, I was lucky to see Mr. Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini unveiling the outrageous speedster Lamborghini Aventador J, which was  designed from concept to the speedster in approx. 45-50 days. All were astonished to see the roofless Italian bull as the silk satin cover was lifted. And back home, Bombay was honored on 26th of April’2012 to see Mr. Stephan Winkelmann launch the Lamborghini showroom.

This is Automobili Lamborghini’s second dealership in India and the  inauguration was done with a special and traditional pooja ceremony by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini and his team who were in India for the occasion. Lamborghini was the first super car brand to establish itself in the country, with the opening of Lamborghini New Delhi in 2006.

Speaking of the early entry into India and opening it's showroom in Bombay, “Lamborghini recognized the potential of the Indian market very early on, and we’re delighted to now open our second dealership,” said Stephan Winkelmann. “Our international brand is highly recognized and respected here, and demand for our cars is growing in line with the expanding Indian economy. Our cars evoke emotion and passion: they are the objects of dreams. Delivering on that image and expectation is Lamborghini’s focus throughout the world, just as it is here in Mumbai.”

The Lamborghini showroom is located in Prabhadevi, the future hub of luxury auto showrooms and a commercial district and operated by Auto Hangar who are known for their dedication and expertise in luxury car retailing.

“This is the right time to open our second dealership: India is a dynamic country and economy, with successful entrepreneurs who understand our marque,” added Stephan Winkelmann. “Our Mumbai partner Auto Hangar is committed to our positioning, values and the Lamborghini culture.”

The showroom will exhibit  two current model ranges: the V10 Gallardo line-up and the V12 Aventador LP 700-4. The Gallardo sports car is its highest produced model to date, with over 12,000 models built and delivered. The Aventador with more than a year waiting list,  was launched in end 2011, a new exotic challenge.

The commitment made by Lamborghini  is for setting up a National Sales Company in India with the help of its parent company Volkswagen. This shows their serious commitment as they have plans of selling 50 supercars by 2015 in India. With Lamborghini’s rivals like Ferrari, Maserati and Aston Martin already in India, Lamborghini is keen and focussed to have a strong and deep footprint in India.
The Lamborghini Gallardo comes with a 5.2 litre V10 engine and is priced upwards of Rs. 2 crore while the all-new Aventador comes with a 6.5 litre V12 engine and is priced at Rs. 4 crore plus.

"Lamborghini has always eyed the Indian market with a lot of interest. The past year saw the market potential and realized being in one center alone will not be enough. Therefore we chose the financial capital as our second destination," company's President and Chief Executive Stephan Winkelmann said.

For expanding into the southern region for more dealerships, Stephan Winkelmann  says "We have identified three locations including, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. But we will first study the demand in these markets."

After the official showroom launch, the VIP guests and select invitees were treated to the launch party at F Bar with a fashion show of LAMBORGHINI fashion apparels. Models were parading up and down next to the dj console showcasing the menswear and women’s wear and accessories. The fashion wear of  Collezione Lamborghini epitomizes the Lamborghini lifestyle and allow them to express their passion for the brand and its heritage. The first fashion apparel boutique in Bombay is integrated with the auto show room. As all sipped champagne, the envious admirers modeled with the yellow Gallardo exhibited at the open area.

Lets see who will bell the bull. Coming up the test drive of the Lamdorghini Gallardo LP550-2.
