Titled “Indica Emporia”, the collection explored the possibilities of 20 iconic Indian garments to see how they could be converted into contemporary modern wearable pieces. In other words Wendell Rodricks created a fusion of twenty Indian costumes – for example a modest garment like ‘dhoti’ was converted into a ‘dhoti jumpsuit’ with a sari.
With this collection the veteran designer celebrated the wealthy and diverse legacy of hand-woven Indian textiles in its truest form. Festive tones of peacock green, peacock blue, beige, red, grey and ultraviolet - all came together to create gorgeous, layered colour blocked pieces.
