Gucci Fall Winter 2015: Is this a game changing collection for the ailing brand ? Milan Fashion Week: Womenswear

First and foremost, the old Gucci girl is no more. The collection clearly indicates Gucci’s shift in direction from its former creative directors, Frida Gianini’s usual urban and sleek signature sophistication and Tom Ford’s hyper refined sexiness. Alessandro Michele, the new creative director of the Italian fashion house, took a complete break from the past and designed a collection inspired from the romanticism of the streets, which had a soft and relaxed feel to it, which in itself conveyed a message of bringing in a state of freedom. Eccentric at times, the new Gucci girl loves her vintage pieces, geek chic rimmed glasses, berets and fur lined horse-bit loafers, minus any pretentious sophistication.

Oscars 2015: The Red Carpet Saga: Of the White, Icy Pastels, Sparkling Pearls & More

From Lady Gaga’s crystal embellished Azzedine Alaïa dress which took 25 seamstresses and 1200 hours to create, and Lupita Nyongo’s 6000 pearl adorned custom gown by  Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, to best actress winner Julianne Moore’s hand-painted resin sequins and flowers Chanel Haute Couture dress which took 987 hours and 27 people to complete, the red carpet affair at the 87th Annual Academy Awards this year was all about embellishment, sparkling pearls, beads and of course going glamorously serene with white. White ruled the red carpet, along with red, icy pastel and black. Here are some of my picks from the red carpet of one of the highly anticipated award nights in the world of cinema.

J.W. Anderson A/W 2015: The 80’s Party Girls are back: London Fashion Week

Girls, it’s time to party it like the 80’s! Taking inspiration from the disco era of the 1980s, J.W. Anderson presented a collection which was high on energy, and brashly-bold but with a playful yet glamorous feminine twist. The eclectic collection featured mismatched accessories, the oh-so-80’s broad shoulders, the multi disc shaped leather bags and the bright slouchy leather boots meant for the young at heart, free spirited power woman of today.
