‘Reflections’ by Manish Malhotra at Lakme Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter Festive 2013-14

Titled ‘Reflections’ , the folk inspired collection by Manish Malhotra at the opening of Lakme Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter Festive 2013-14 explored the beautiful mirror work of Kutch and Rajasthan, the richness of intricate Kashmiri embroidery  and the playfulness of ethnic colour blocking.

‘Ghagra’ pant, yes a new offering from Manish, created by marrying sharara with classic pant is sure to create some buzz, especially during the festive seasons. Not only that, but he also went a step ahead by modifying Rajasthani  koti silhouette to create koti top, that can seamlessly fit into your  contemporary wardrobe. With its sensuous and glamorous cutout backs (sexy backs), midriff baring scooped hemline dresses , daring necklines, zari , tilla work, sheer, chiffon, block prints, metallic textured silk and more, the collection offered embroidered jackets, blouses, shirts,  tunics, pocket lehengas, palazzo trousers, cigarette pants and sarees, just to name  a few. As for men, the collection boasted of smart layering that comprised of structured kurtas, dhotis, pajamas, bandhgala jackets and Jodhpur pants.

In a mixed colour palette of nude, mint green, mustard, coral, oyster, beige, royal blue, red, pink and a dash of neon, the colour story of the first half was elegantly restrained while the other end of it was vibrant and rich, thus creating a perfect harmony .

The offering from Manish is a sartorial celebration of vintage craftsmanship and folk culture with an essence of youthfulness. And, yes...sexy backs are back for sure!!!
