Sneak Peek: Banaras by Mrinalini Gupta: Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2016

Designer Mrinalini Gupta will be presenting her collection titled ‘Banaras’ on March, 31st at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2016 in Mumbai.

“Beyond the weaves, to the oldest streets of the world, where God's walked with man, Banaras-the collection is a story of ascetism in fashion,“ says Mrinalini,“Devoid of embellishment, stripped of the luxury of colour, this collection explores the murk that mingles with the mystic.”

Keeping minimal rustic as its core, the collection will feature raw burlaps, tea soaked crumpled cotton, linen and linen Jersey that intermingle with gauze to create a contemporary line on Varanasi street. “Homeless jackets, tea stained shirts, coffee soaked dresses casually layered with belts and shrugs creates an all season classic line,” she said, adding that the relaxed shapes with raw detail and hand knotting, waistcoats and bag jackets, loosely knotted kurtas and lungi skirts and linen Jersey creates an urban street flavour.

Starting March, 30th the Summer Resort 2016 edition of Lakme Fashion Week will be held at St. Regis hotel in Mumbai. The fashion week will culminate on April, 3rd.
