Titled “Lady
Sahara”, the Spring Summer 2014 collection by Payal Singhal is inspired by the
French Moroccan culture and architecture of the period when the French occupied
Morocco. The collection is an ode to the cultural crossroad of Marrakech, the shapes
and the grace of Islamic architecture.
Payal’s signature prints marry intricate patterns
of Moroccan filigree work and are incorporated in detailed embroidery in beaten
silver, gold and salmon “Kora”. The fabric story of linen, tulle and silk perfectly
blends with muted colors of sand, grey, rose and pale blue to translate into a
modern contemporary silhouette.
"Lady Sahara
is the story of a woman living a life on her terms. Intelligent, modern,
elegant, French and living in Marrakech"
Payal Singhal’s show is on 13th
March, 2014 at 1730 Hrs at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.
