Decidedly avant-garde," announced the show notes, the
collection titled “Garçonne” - meaning the boyish look tailor-made for women,
celebrated the spirit of today's independent women.
In a colour palette of black, grey, ebony, pale blue and
purple, the standout pieces included cropped, narrow velvet pants that unzipped
down the sides, double-breasted jackets, cropped jackets, graphic jackets,
sequined striped jacket, jumpsuits, pleated-front pants, pants held up by
suspenders, coats, diamond print sweater, silk peplum top & velvet skirts.
In fact pants were the staple of this collection that emphasized the borrowed-
from- the- boys- wardrobe feel. A fusion of shorts and skirt stood rightfully true
to Mr. Armani's show note that read "the kind of independent spirit that
ignores conformism and all that is commonplace," .For evening, the
designer offered velvet dresses, sequined pants and ultra-feminine long skirts,
sparkling evening gown with intricate
straps, evening pants paired with dazzling sequined tops and organza blouse.
As for the collection, clean lines, sharp tailoring, and the
androgynous essence of the pieces with a twist of eccentricity redefined the
power woman of the 1980s. Mr.Armani truly is the star of the week. He presented
his Fall 2013 collection on the last day of Milan Fashion Week, and also scored
big on the red carpet best dressed list when Jessica Chastain, Naomi Watts and
Quvenzhane Wallis appeared in his design at the Oscars this year.
