For me the collection
was no less than a Bohemian Rhapsody – a celebration of free spirit.Prestigious Parisian
museum, the Louvre was the venue for Salvatore Ferragamo’s Resort 2013
collection. Salvatore Ferragamo created a history as this is the first time
that the iconic Louvre had hosted a runway show. The bohemian inspired
collection was all about today’s free spirited women who accept modernity and
culture with ease.
Fringed skirts,
crochet knits, slouchy pants, short shifts, halter tops, motorcycle jackets,
latticed leather separates, fringed and tassled bags in snakeskin and
croc-skin, boots in suede and snakeskin & a gold and white Art Deco
inspired neckpiece were some of the statement and key pieces of this Boho
chic collection. The collection in a soft colour palette of neutrals – nude,
grey, pink & sand had a magical feel, which can instantly take you to a
classic & sunny Mediterranean holiday.
The intricately woven
pieces showed the fine craftsmanship of the Italian design house. As the
creative director, Massimiliano Giornetti rightly said "It's
super-modern and yet connected with the classics because every piece is the
product of a tradition of ancient craft. The Ferragamo girl is cool, but she's
got culture."
