Spring /Summer 2012 Fashion Trends – Art Deco & The Roaring 1920’s

Revisit the Jazz age, by adding Art deco glamour in your wardrobe for Spring Summer 2012. With straight & bias cut silhouettes, geometric prints and patterns, drop waists & plunging V neckline dresses, flapper dresses in layers of sequins, Poiret style hooped skirt, monochrome dresses in stripes, sheer panels, graphic colors, chain details & art deco crystal embroidery, many design houses like Gucci, Etro, Carolina Herrera, Emporio Armani, Marchesa, Julien McDonald, Monique Lhuillier, Bottega Veneta, Chloe & others, had their own interpretation of Art Deco.

There is something so electrifying and overtly stylish about that era. With bold make up, short wavy dresses, beaded dresses, raw sensuality and a confident attitude, it was an ultimate expression of women’s liberation & freedom.

“Art deco, because it’s one of my favourite periods. It’s rich in the visual arts, literature and architecture,” Frida Giannini said, the creative director of Gucci, when asked about her inspiration for Spring/Summer by Marie Claire UK.
